For ten years Oskar Lecuyer has designed and led research projects on the sustainability of development and on a sustainable blue economy, in South-East Asia, the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean.
At ECO (Research Department), Oskar Lecuyer’s research addresses a sustainable blue economy in South-East Asia, the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean. Co-produced with partner institutions and centred on operational tools, it seeks a balance between local community development, social equity and marine protection. His current projects cover the protection of marine areas, social security in the blue economy, tools to monitor ocean environmental sustainability (ESGAP) and ocean-related financial
Oskar Lecuyer studied life and environmental sciences at the Ecole Normale Supérieure and completed a doctoral thesis at EHESS on the interactions of public policy instruments for climate in the energy sector.
After a post-doc at the University of Bern, he joined AFD's Research Department in 2016.Before his posting to Bangkok, his background includes co-designing development trajectories that consider climate change, economic limitations, and social needs, as well as incorporating environmental sustainability into decision-making processes.
