Oskar Lecuyer

For the past 8 years, Oskar Lecuyer has helped design research projects focused on sustainability (in particular, ESGAP) across various sectors. In his current role at AFD's Bangkok regional office, he is developing a toolkit for a sustainable ocean economy in Southeast Asia. This research, focused on practical tools and co-constructed with partner institutions, aims to balance community development with social equity and marine protection. 

Oskar Lecuyer's current projects include mainstreaming inequality reduction in marine protected areas, assessing social safety nets in blue economy sectors, and establishing robust ocean sustainability metrics.

Oskar Lecuyer studied life and environmental sciences at the Ecole Normale Supérieure and completed a doctoral thesis at EHESS on the interactions of public policy instruments for climate in the energy sector. After a post-doc at the University of Bern, he joined AFD's Research Department in 2016.

His background includes co-designing development trajectories that consider climate change, economic limitations, and social needs, as well as incorporating environmental sustainability into decision-making processes.
