President Claudia Sheinbaum, inaugurated in October 2024, is facing a number of major internal and external challenges. Tensions with the United States (trade, migration, drug trafficking) have added another layer of complexity to the balancing act between economic growth, oil, public finances, development, and the energy transition, drawing attention to the contradictions between stated ambitions (presidential campaign promises, Plan México, National Adaptation Plan for climate change) and political, ideological, and financial constraints.
