Powering villages in Kenya's Turkana County
Published on
Although Kenya’s electrification rate is higher than the sub-Saharan average, rural areas still lag far behind.
To bridge this gap, the Green Mini-Grid project supports the development of solar-powered mini-grids led by private companies such as KUDURA/RVE.Sol and Renewvia Energy. These systems bring electricity to villages across the counties of Turkana, Siaya, Nyamira, Kisii, Busia, Kajiado, and Kericho. The project, financed by the AFD, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, contributes to Kenya’s energy transition and the achievement of SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy for All.
