Through several interviews, this film shows how the African scientific community has appropriated technology to sustainably manage logging in forests, to the benefit of the people living in the Congo Basin.
This is a huge challenge. Each year, 13 million hectares of forest disappear, thereby intensifying climate change and loss in biodiversity. This alarming situation prompted AFD and the French Facility for Global Environment (FFEM) to support Observation Spatiale des Forêts Tropicales ("Spatial Observation of Tropical Forests" - OSFT) and GeoForAfri. These two programs provide actors on the ground with not only satellite images, but also funding, equipment and training in order to preserve tropical forests, whose future concerns us all.
