When it comes to our evaluations, it can be useful to know how they were conducted, what their challenges were, and what they can teach us about AFD’s actions and the prospects for improvement. It’s with this in mind that the “Evaluation Highlights” series was designed to provide summary documents in a two-page format, on key evaluations and their conclusions. Through these documents, AFD reviews the evaluations, their challenges, and their recommendations.
With pressure on natural environments constantly increasing, mobilizing funding for biodiversity conservation is a major challenge. In response, conservation trust funds (CTFs) are crucial tools for generating resources for protected areas. To measure their relevance and improve their effectiveness, AFD has evaluated the eight CTFs it has supported since 2005, for a total of €70 million to date.
