Since 2015, AFD’s financing for projects with "adaptation" co-benefits - helping to respond to the risks associated with global warming while targeting other development objectives - has risen sharply. In 2022, AFD evaluated for the first time the relevance and impact of some of these interventions in sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar, in the agriculture, water and sanitation sectors. The findings, conclusions and recommendations resulting from this work should help to better integrate the "adaptation" dimension into the project cycle and provide input for future intervention strategies in the fight against climate change. This work has been supplemented by a comparative analysis of the approaches taken by other donors to facilitate the comparison of results and highlight good practice.
