In 2023, AFD invested €1.2 billion euros in favor of agriculture, rural development and biodiversity. Africa remains a priority for the Group in this sector, accounting for almost 40% of financing and 50% of projects.
Climate, biodiversity and gender equality are core aspects of the projects financed in this sector. 57% of projects also benefit the climate, through actions involving adaptation to the effects of climate change and mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions. 53 projects will contribute to preserving biodiversity and 58 projects will help reduce gender inequalities,
