Assam: Forest communities lead forest conservation

In Assam, AFD is supporting the Assam Project for Forest and Biodiversity Conservation (APFBC) as it trains local communities in alternate livelihoods. Through these new trades, local residents can support their families, while reducing their dependence on forest resources.  
'Assam's reserved forests and protected area have a critical role to play in climate change mitigation,' says Mr. Pavan Kumar, Project Director for APFBC. Join us on a walk through the forests of Kaziranga and Manas with some of the people who have benefitted from this project.
