Support Fund for Feminist Organizations: actively promoting the rights of women and girls
The Support Fund for Feminist Organizations (FSOF) forms part of France’s feminist diplomacy and supports feminist organizations operating in AFD’s partner countries.
Objective
Strengthen feminist civil society organizations in France’s partner countries to reduce gender-based inequalities and defend women’s rights.
Am I eligible?
The FSOF is available to feminist civil society organizations in all their diversity, whether formal or informal.
In a priority country of France’s development policy or in a country where there are major gender equality issues, you represent:
- A French feminist organization
- A local feminist civil society organization (CSO) with the financial and operational capacity to implement intermediated funds

- Consultation of CSOs through a consultation mechanism
65 % of the initiatives financed are in Africa.
While the Fund focuses efforts on the priority countries of France’s development policy, it is also available to civil society organizations in other countries where there are major gender equality issues.

Projects targeted:
- Sexual and reproductive health and rights and sex education
- Fight against discrimination and sexist and sexual violence, including harmful practices (female genital mutilation, child and forced marriage)
- Women’s empowerment and economic participation
- Social and political leadership of women
- Access to primary, secondary and higher education for girls
- France’s Femmes, paix et sécurité (Women, Peace and Security) agenda and the role of women in crises
