Elephants Africa Biodiversity
On the occasion of World Biodiversity Day, we take you to the heart of five ecosystem preservation projects financed by AFD in Southern Africa, via a virtual exhibition, which will be accessible for a full year, until May, 2022.

Protecting biodiversity is one of AFD Group’s main priorities. Worldwide decline in animal and plant populations requires us all to act, and healthy and well-managed ecosystems are a guarantee of shared prosperity. That’s why AFD supports the conservation and restoration of land, coastal, and marine ecosystems in many regions of the world, and also why it works to incorporate biodiversity issues into all economic sectors.

The United Nations has declared May 22 as the International Day for Biological Biodiversity, to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity. This year’s theme, “We are part of the solution”, reminds us that biodiversity can also help us respond to several other sustainable development challenges.

To highlight several of our long-term actions in the field, AFD Group launched the virtual exhibition “Part of the solution: protecting our biodiversity for the future” on May 21. It presents 29 photographs from five initiatives, programs, or projects supported by the Group and whose goals are to protect biodiversity. These projects have been carried out for less than three years in Southern Africa: South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

This exhibition is available for one year, in French and English. To enjoy it, click on the “Enter exhibition” tab below and navigate with your keyboard or mouse.
