Governments, NGOs, activists and experts from around the world will attend the 12-day Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) amid hopes that it culminates in the adoption of a new global strategic framework for our relationship with nature.
AFD Group, whose objective is to be a pro-nature Public Development Bank, will urge partners and financial actors at the event to join it in pushing for the adoption of an ambitious framework agreement. The Group will reaffirm its commitment to doubling its biodiversity financing by 2025, and to devoting at least 30% of its climate finance to biodiversity.

COP15 of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) will gather governments from around the world in Montreal so that they can agree on a new set of targets for nature for the next decade. It should lead to the adoption of a new Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), presented as the twin agreement of the Paris Agreement.
The previous framework, adopted in Aichi in 2010, had 20 targets: very few of them have been achieved, whereas natural environments are subject to constantly increasing pressure. Following the release of alarming reports on biodiversity loss (IPBES 2019, Living Planet Report 2022), the new global framework needs to tackle the causes of this decline, while giving prominence to the means put in place, especially public, private national and international financing.
Given the complexity of the negotiations to define this global framework, there are strong expectations towards financial and development actors to demonstrate their commitments in terms of financial resources, but also their support for countries for the implementation of their national biodiversity strategies.
All session are indicated in Montreal local time, UTC−6.
